On August 18, 2016, Janet Jones contacted Glen Jennings per request of Kentucky Vocational Rehab. Glen had requested partners to create a supportive, peer-driven community for young adults with Asperger’s/Autism. Over the next few months, Glen and Janet met regularly to refine the group’s goals, program formats and the need given community gaps and resources. We launched Magnetic North on February 23rd, 2017, communicating the event via an Oldham Era article, WDRB interview, email mailings, Facebook, and other outreach methods.
The name Magnetic North reminds us of finding direction with a compass. Our unique strengths and interests are like a compass to help navigate our journey. As we explore the paths open to us and develop skills, we will gain a stronger sense direction in life.
